The days of running around in ArmA 2 have all since long gone. Being all stealthy, marking targets for the ‘big lads’ (tanks / planes) to come in to destroy enemy encampments were some of the best and highly developed tactical war-fare I’ve ever played in a video game. Then along came DayZ which threw most of that seriousness, squad-based gameplay out the window but instead turned players into chanting lunatics ‘ANYONE IN CHERNO?!?!’. Anyway, I digress (see picture below – hilarious ArmA 2 screenshot of a incorrectly rendered close up soldier.

Bohemia Interactive announced yesterday that the third and final Single Player DLC for ArmA 3 will be released on March 20th and, as we’ve expected on all its previous parts, will be free to all owners of the military sim title – Hoorah!

According to the press release, which floated into my inbox this morning, The final act follows the situation as it escalates further, with NATO forces in the Mediterranean on the bring of all-out war.

Arma 3’s Creative Director Jay Crowe said:

“The final installment of our campaign gives players the chance to experience combat on a larger scale than we’ve seen so far. Tactical freedom – together with big, combined arms engagements – is at the heart of Episode 3’s gameplay, as we follow Ben Kerry’s story to its conclusion.”

See you on the battlefield…
